Englandfahrt: The British Way of Life
Karlsruhe/Ettlingen (Zn, Br).

A lovely week in Margate, England
Our group, consisting of 30 students from Karlsruhe and Ettlingen and Mrs. Meinecke, Mrs Brucker and Mr. Zimmermann, went to England by bus. We stayed in Margate and visited Leeds Castle, London, and other beautiful places.
On the first day, we visited Leeds Castle with its stunning grounds. We attended an audio tour that led us through every part of the moated castle. We also tried the huge maze and played crazy golf. In the evening, we returned to our lovely host families, had dinner with them, and got to know them properly.
The next day, we drove to Canterbury. Our first activity there was a guided tour of some of the most impressive sights in Canterbury, such as the enormous cathedral. We listened to our pleasant guide and afterwards the teachers let us walk around on our own to shop and eat lunch. After that, we visited the West Gate Tower, a former prison and now a museum. Our talkative guide told us about the tower’s history and importance in the history of Canterbury.
On day three, we went to the UK’s capital, London. We got on a boat close to the O2 Arena and passed under the famous Tower Bridge. We were left to explore the Borough Food Market and buy lunch. Afterwards, we all went shopping in some of London’s nicest shops. On our way back, we passed the Elizabeth Tower with its famous bell, Big Ben. We caught the underground and returned to our host families at 8 p.m.
We spent our last day in Ramsgate. We attended an interesting tour in the War tunnels that were dug underneath the town to protect the citizens. Unfortunately, the weather was bad that day, so we went to the cinema to watch the movie Hokus Pokus. Our last activity was to go to the beach, afterwards, we ate a delicious ice cream sundae. With better weather, we could even walk along the beautiful beach in Broadstairs before heading home to Margate.
The next morning, we all said goodbye to our host families and got on our way back to Karlsruhe.
To sum it up, it was a spectacular trip to England where we learned a lot and had a lot of fun. I recommend it to everyone because it was a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience
